The Audi S3 Saloon presents itself as stronger, sportier and fascinating at first sight. It also carries the S3-defining design features with the same determination as its hatchback relatives. Dynamics that can be felt in the interior. These include the optional S sport seats in the front, the optional flat-bottomed multi-functional leather sport steering wheel and the brushed stainless steel pedals.
Innovative Assistance Systems
The diverse range of new driver assistance systems sets the bar high. For example, the optional Audi active lane assist, which helps the driver to stay on track above 65 km/h. The front camera recognises markings on the road. As soon as the vehicle approaches a marking without indicating, the system gently intervenes in the electro-mechanical power steering and steers back. The optional Congestion Assistant supports the driver in slow-moving traffic at less than 65 km/h, and maintains sufficient distance from the vehicle in front. The Congestion Assistant also takes over the steering if necessary.
A good 20 years ago, Audi opened up the sporty premium compact market segment with the first S3. Now the brand is presenting the new generation – an S3 Sportback and an S3 Sedan. Its 2.0 TFSI engine produces 228 kW (310 PS) of power and 400 Nm (295.0 lb-ft) of torque. Both models2 accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 4.8 seconds.
All S3 models come with a 306-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system. During our initial test drive, we praised the S3's lithe handling and found its powertrain to be perky, eager, and sonorous.
